LRWC is a breeding facility for over 60 different species of birds. Give your class the opportunity to learn about our active captive breeding program, how our aviculturists monitor duckling development, and the inner workings of an egg. And, of course, you'll have the chance to meet our current brood!
Captive Breeding: Learn what it means to be an aviculturist and how our avicultural staff successfully raises hundreds of birds a year.
Eggs: By dissecting an infertile egg, watching the heartbeat of a 2-day old embryo inside a fertile egg, and more, students will learn the components of an egg as well as the basics of how a duckling develops inside!
Baby waterfowl: Everyone will have a chance to meet the current brood and learn about the ducklings, gosling, and cygnets raised at LRWC!
*This program is seasonal and can only be offered during the breeding season (typically June - August) when there will be ducklings, goslings, and/or cygnets for your class to meet.
