Camp Sessions Week 1: Bird NerdSold Out! July 8th-12th This week is for the bird lovers! Campers will be given the opportunity to raise their very own bird. Bird introductions will take place on Monday where campers will be matched to their bird and tasked with taking care of their animal throughout the week. Each day campers will learn more about their bird, including life history, anatomy, breeding, and husbandry while assisting our aviculturists with animal care. Throughout the week campers will learn all about the wonderful world of waterfowl!
Week 2: Sensory Challenge Only one more spot available! July 15th - 19th This week campers will test all of their senses to see if they can out-compete their wildlife competitors. Each day of the week will focus on one of the five senses: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell; and campers will learn about how senses are adapted around the animal kingdom, from the smallest insects to the largest animals on Earth! Please call the Conservancy at (860)567-2062 or email Colleen Peters at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your spot.
Week 3: Mad Scientist No Longer Available July 22nd-26th Think like a mad scientist this week as we investigate how to make slime and super bubbles, learn how to make a balloon fly without inflating it, and join the glider competition to see who can create the furthest flier! Each day campers will conduct a hands-on experiment and learn about how chemical reactions transform something from what we know into scientific phenomena!
Week 4: Ecosystem Explorer No Longer Available August 5th-9th This week campers will explore all of LRWC, from the birds, to the bees, and everything in-between! We will investigate wetlands, forest, and fields, and how each system is interconnected. Campers will learn about insects, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, the environments that inhabit, and the cool and unique adaptations that enable them to survive. Each day will focus on a different habitat and the creatures that live there, providing campers with a broad look at Connecticut’s landscapes.
Week 5: Environmental Engineer Sold Out! August 12th-16th This week campers will learn about the amazing engineers of the animal world! We will examine: how birds construct nests, why squirrels prefer dreys, how honeybees form hives, and much more! Each day campers will further their knowledge by building nature inspired creations like leaf sculptures, flower wind chimes, bird feeders, and bat houses. Please call the Conservancy at (860)567-2062 or email Colleen Peters at email@example.com to book your spot.
